Introducing the Capsule Table. You’ve heard of a capsule wardrobe. You pair down your closet to the essentials, but in a way that you can still mix and match your clothes to make multiple outfits. That’s what the Buttery is offering for your table. A collection of items for your table that you can mix and match throughout the year. Right now there are three tablecloths to choose from. The solid linen you can use for any occasion. The red stripe is perfect for Christmas, Valentines, Memorial Day, etc…The green stripe for Mother’s Day, August BBQ or Thanksgiving and so on.

Each month I will feature a different celebration and show you how I style the table. 90% of the items are for sale in the Buttery, while the other 10% are your own staple pieces likes plates and silverware. With each table setting I’ll feature a recipe or two that I would choose to serve at the gathering. These recipes are not my own. They are straight from the cookbooks offered in the shop, but ones that are tried and true.

My hope is to cut down on consumerism — ironic, coming from someone who owns a store, I know — while still offering fresh ideas and thoughtful pieces you can easily add to your collection. Eventually you’ll be able to shop your own home and rotate items around each month. The market is fast paced. There are always new products being introduced; the latest, the greatest, the trendiest. It can get discouraging. It can make us feel not enough or like we can’t keep up. I don’t want to live that way or promote that lifestyle.

I enjoy owning a store. I’ve been doing it since I was 22. I love offering beautiful products to people. But I also love the idea of using what we already have — and what we have or don’t have should never keep us from inviting people in. So how do I hold both? With a capsule table! The freedom to use what we already have, while enjoying the search for something new.
